China’s efforts to restore and protect its wild tiger and leopard populations are yielding remarkable results. The Northeast China Tiger and Leopard National Park announced on Tuesday that over 35 cubs have been born within the park over the past year.
The park administration reported monitoring the birth of more than 20 Siberian tigers and over 15 Amur leopards since last year. These majestic creatures now roam freely across an activity area exceeding 1.1 million hectares, which accounts for approximately 78 percent of the park’s total area.
The steady growth in the populations of these endangered species highlights the success of China’s conservation initiatives in the region. The park serves as a critical habitat for these big cats, and the increase in cub births signifies a positive trend towards the revival of their numbers in the wild.
