The Chinese mainland is bracing for an intense cold wave as meteorological authorities renewed the highest-level alert on Monday. The National Meteorological Center (NMC) issued an orange alert, forecasting significant temperature drops across most regions from Monday to Thursday.
According to the NMC, temperatures are expected to fall by 8 to 12 degrees Celsius in most parts of the country. Some areas, including Hunan Province, Guizhou Province, and northeast China, may experience a dramatic plunge of more than 20 degrees Celsius.
