Henan Mobilizes 15,000 Personnel to Keep Roads Open Amid Heavy Snowfall

Amid heavy snowfall and freezing conditions, central China’s Henan Province has mobilized a force of 15,000 personnel to ensure roads remain open and traffic flows smoothly. Since Wednesday, the province has faced low temperatures, rain, snow, and icy conditions, prompting authorities to implement temporary traffic control measures on 29 expressways and 10 sections of national and provincial highways.

Emergency response teams, totaling 360 units, have been deployed to tackle the challenges posed by the harsh weather. Local departments are working collaboratively to ensure ample resources and robust rescue forces are in place. Expressway service areas have been stocked with emergency supplies and offer makeshift accommodations, providing essential services for stranded drivers and passengers.

Maintenance has been coordinated to ensure the smooth operation of 1,796 charging stations, catering to the needs of electric vehicle users during this period.

Weather forecasts indicate that areas south of the Yellow River in Henan are expected to experience light to moderate snow, with heavier snowfall anticipated in the eastern and southern parts of the province. Freezing rain is also forecast for areas south of the Huaihe River.

Travelers and residents are advised to stay informed about weather updates and follow guidance from local authorities to ensure safety during this period of inclement weather.
