China’s hyperspectral remote-sensing satellite, Gaofen-5 01A, has officially entered service after successfully completing in-orbit tests, the China National Space Administration (CNSA) announced on Tuesday.
The satellite is in excellent condition, with all subsystems functioning properly and performance meeting the intended standards, according to the CNSA. Gaofen-5 01A is set to provide crucial data to support ecological and environmental protection, as well as pollution reduction initiatives.
Launched on December 9, 2022, the satellite delivers high-quality hyperspectral data for a variety of fields, including environmental monitoring, natural resource surveys, and climate change studies. Its advanced imaging capabilities enhance China’s ability to observe and analyze the Earth’s surface, contributing significantly to sustainable development and environmental conservation efforts.
