Middle East Tensions Surge as US-Israel Strikes Target Iran

At least eight civilians were killed and 95 others injured in missile strikes targeting Iran's B1 bridge in Karaj, the capital of Alborz province, on Thursday, according to the official IRNA news agency. The attack marks the latest escalation in ongoing hostilities between the US-Israel coalition and Iran, which have intensified since February 2026.

The B1 bridge, described as one of the Middle East's most complex engineering projects, was reportedly struck twice during the assault. This follows joint US-Israel operations earlier this year on February 28 that resulted in the death of Iran's former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and multiple senior military figures, triggering retaliatory missile and drone strikes by Iran against Israeli and US positions across the region.

Analysts warn the conflict risks further destabilizing Middle Eastern security frameworks, with civilian infrastructure increasingly becoming focal points in the strategic exchanges. The international community continues to monitor the situation closely amid concerns over humanitarian impacts and potential spillover effects on global energy markets.
