Nestled at the confluence of the Yangtze and Minjiang rivers in Sichuan Province, White Tower Mountain emerges as a cultural beacon as it prepares to host events for the 2026 Spring Festival Gala. This Ming Dynasty-era landmark, renowned for its 456-year-old namesake tower, ancient city ruins, and labyrinthine limestone caves, will showcase southwestern China's rich heritage to billions celebrating Lunar New Year.
The site's selection as a gala sub-venue underscores China's commitment to integrating historical preservation with contemporary cultural expression. Local artisans are currently restoring temple carvings while technicians install state-of-the-art lighting systems ahead of February's live broadcasts. "This fusion of ancient architecture and modern stagecraft creates a dialogue across centuries," noted Yibin City's cultural affairs director.
With visitor numbers expected to triple this year, authorities have implemented sustainable tourism measures including timed entry slots and electric shuttle buses. The mountain's unique ecosystem – home to 37 protected plant species – remains carefully monitored during preparations.
