Last Supermoon of 2025 Illuminates Skies Tonight

Skywatchers across Asia are witnessing a celestial finale as the year's last supermoon graces the night sky on December 4, 2025. This lunar spectacle occurs when Earth's satellite reaches its closest orbital point (perigee) while in full phase, appearing 14% larger and 30% brighter than typical full moons.

Astronomers confirm this marks the final supermoon event of 2025, with optimal visibility reported from Tokyo to Dubai. The phenomenon holds special significance in many Asian cultures, coinciding with traditional winter festivals in several countries.

"This supermoon's timing creates unique photographic opportunities against iconic Asian landmarks," noted Singapore-based astrophotographer Li Wei. "Urban observers should seek elevated viewpoints to counter light pollution."

While cloud cover affects parts of Southeast Asia, most regions report clear viewing conditions. The moon reached peak illumination at 19:34 UTC and remains visible throughout the night across all time zones.

Next year's lunar calendar promises four supermoons, with the first expected in April 2026. Scientists emphasize these regular astronomical events provide valuable opportunities for public engagement with space science.
