China marked another milestone in its space exploration program with the successful launch of the Shenzhou-21 crewed spacecraft from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center at 11:44 p.m. Beijing Time on Friday. The mission, led by astronauts Zhang Lu, Wu Fei, and Zhang Hongzhang, aims to further develop the nation’s orbiting space station.
The spacecraft is scheduled to perform a rapid automated docking procedure within 3.5 hours of reaching orbit, connecting with the forward port of the Tianhe core module.
