China marked the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic with a solemn flag-raising ceremony at Beijing's Tiananmen Square on Tuesday. Thousands gathered at dawn to witness People's Liberation Army guards march across the historic site, hoisting the five-starred red flag as a military band played the national anthem.
The square now features a vibrant floral landscape titled "Blessings to the Motherland," designed with over 400,000 plants forming patterns symbolizing national unity and prosperity. Cultural performances showcasing traditional dance and music followed the official ceremony, reflecting China's rich heritage.
"This celebration reminds us of our collective journey and shared aspirations," said Beijing resident Zhang Wei, who attended with his family. The event comes as China continues to play a pivotal role in global economic recovery and regional stability.
Similar ceremonies occurred across the country, including in Hong Kong and Macao, regions that recently marked 26 and 24 years respectively since their return to China. Analysts note the celebrations highlight both cultural pride and contemporary national priorities under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
