China Honors Martyrs Repatriated from ROK in Shenyang Ceremony

The remains of 122 Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) martyrs, returned from the Republic of Korea (ROK), were laid to rest Thursday at a solemn ceremony in Shenyang's CPVC Martyrs' Cemetery. This marks the 12th annual repatriation since 2014, honoring those who fell during the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-1953).

Attendees included senior Chinese officials, war veterans, and family members of the fallen, with floral tributes presented by representatives from the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the State Council, and the Central Military Commission. Chinese Vice Premier Liu Guozhong emphasized the martyrs' "eternal spirit" in safeguarding peace during his memorial address.

The ceremony coincides with recent efforts to preserve historical memory while fostering modern China-ROK economic cooperation. Over 980 sets of CPV remains have now been repatriated under bilateral agreements since 2014.
