Israeli Strike in Doha Targets Hamas Leaders Amid Ceasefire Talks

DOHA, Qatar – Tensions escalated dramatically on Tuesday as Israel conducted a targeted strike in Doha’s residential district, aiming at Hamas leadership during sensitive U.S.-mediated ceasefire negotiations. The attack occurred hours after Hamas delegates engaged in discussions over a new truce proposal presented by former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Hamas confirmed in a late-night statement that six individuals, including the son of senior negotiator Khalil al-Hayya, were killed. The group emphasized its negotiating team survived the attack, calling it a “deliberate sabotage” of peace efforts. CGTN correspondent Adel El Mahrouky reported from the site, describing emergency crews clearing debris and heightened security across the Qatari capital.

The strike marks Israel’s first military action in Qatar since hostilities began last year. Analysts suggest the move complicates already fragile regional diplomacy, with Qatar serving as a key mediator. U.S. officials have yet to comment on the incident.
