As anticipation builds for the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, Tianjin's iconic Ferris wheel – the 120-meter Tianjin Eye – offers visitors panoramic views of this historic port city's blend of modern architecture and cultural heritage. Perched above the Haihe River, the landmark's 48 climate-controlled cabins provide a 30-minute journey through Tianjin's skyline, transforming into a radiant light spectacle after sunset.
The city will welcome global leaders from September 1-2, 2025, as host of the SCO Summit – a crucial platform for Eurasian economic cooperation and security dialogue. While the wheel currently spins above construction sites for summit-related infrastructure projects, municipal officials confirm preservation efforts for historical sites along the riverfront.
"Tianjin's unique position as a gateway between Beijing and the Bohai Sea makes it an ideal venue for international dialogue," said a city spokesperson, noting enhanced transportation links and upgraded conference facilities underway. Business analysts suggest the summit could accelerate development in Tianjin's free trade zone and green technology sectors.
