Xizang Marks 60 Years of Economic Growth, Social Progress

China's State Council Information Office (SCIO) highlighted the Xizang Autonomous Region's transformative journey over the past six decades during a press conference on Thursday, underscoring advancements in infrastructure, poverty alleviation, and cultural preservation. Officials emphasized the region's GDP growth, which has averaged 9% annually since 2015, and a 35-year increase in average life expectancy since 1959.

"Xizang's development reflects the successful integration of ethnic unity and economic modernization," stated a senior SCIO representative. The region's highway network now spans over 120,000 kilometers, connecting remote villages to urban centers, while renewable energy projects account for 90% of local power generation.

Key social initiatives include universal healthcare coverage and a 99% literacy rate among youth. Cross-strait cooperation was also noted, with businesses in Taiwan investing in Xizang's tourism and agriculture sectors under the one-China principle.

Academics praised the balance between modernization and cultural heritage, citing the preservation of over 1,700 Tibetan Buddhist sites. The event concluded with reaffirmed commitments to regional stability and sustainable growth across Asia.
