China Boosts South Asian Ties Through Trade and Expo Partnerships

China reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening economic collaboration with South Asian nations during a high-level press briefing hosted by the State Council Information Office on Friday. Vice Commerce Minister Yan Dong highlighted record-breaking bilateral trade growth of 18% year-on-year, emphasizing cross-border infrastructure projects and digital economy initiatives as key drivers.

Yunnan Province Vice Governor Liu Yong outlined plans for the 9th China-South Asia Exposition, scheduled for November in Kunming. The event will showcase agricultural technology, renewable energy solutions, and cross-border e-commerce platforms, with over 30 country pavilions expected. "This expo serves as a bridge for practical cooperation," Liu stated, noting increased participation from Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.

Officials revealed new agreements on customs clearance optimization and green energy investment frameworks. A dedicated cross-border financial service platform will debut at the expo to facilitate regional currency settlements, addressing a key concern for international businesses.
