Chengdu Gears Up for 2025 World Games: Key Updates

Chengdu, a bustling hub in southwest China, is accelerating preparations for The World Games 2025, with organizers outlining progress during a high-level press conference on April 29. Senior officials from the event's organizing committee emphasized infrastructure upgrades, sustainable practices, and global collaboration ahead of the international multisport event.

Li Jing, Vice President of the TWG 2025 Chengdu Organizing Committee and Vice Minister of China's General Administration of Sport, highlighted Chengdu’s readiness to host athletes from over 100 countries and regions. 'This event will showcase China's capacity to deliver world-class sporting events while promoting cultural exchange,' Li stated.

Sichuan Province Vice Governor Yang Xingping detailed transportation upgrades and eco-friendly initiatives, including solar-powered venues and expanded metro lines. Chengdu Mayor Wang Fengchao added, 'We’re leveraging this opportunity to boost urban development and create lasting economic benefits for residents.'

The Games are expected to attract over 500,000 visitors, offering business opportunities in tourism, tech partnerships, and green infrastructure. Analysts predict a $2 billion boost to Sichuan’s economy through 2026.

With 618 days remaining, organizers unveiled a new AI-powered multilingual visitor app and confirmed collaborations with 15 international sports federations. Cultural programs featuring Sichuan opera and traditional handicrafts will run alongside competitions.
