More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. As resettlement and reconstruction efforts continue, stories of solidarity and compassion are emerging from the affected regions.
At Cuo'ang Village in Quluo Town, Dingri County, firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on roles beyond their usual duties. Amidst the rubble and ongoing recovery work, they are preparing lunch for the villagers, bringing not just food but also hope and warmth to those impacted by the disaster.
Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, joined the frontline to witness the resilience of the community and the dedication of the firefighters. The villagers, many of whom lost their homes and belongings, gathered as the firefighters cooked hot meals, turning a simple act into a moment of unity and comfort.
\"The firefighters have been a tremendous support,\" said a resident of Cuo'ang Village. \"Their kindness shows that we are not alone in this hardship.\"
As the region continues its path to recovery, such acts of kindness highlight the collaborative spirit that binds communities together in times of crisis.
