Firefighters Prepare Lunch for Quake-Affected Villagers in Xizang

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. As resettlement and reconstruction efforts continue, the spirit of community and resilience shines through.

At Cuo'ang Village in Quluo Town, a team of dedicated firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit are going beyond their call of duty. Not only are they assisting with rescue and rebuilding efforts, but they are also bringing comfort to the villagers in a simple yet profound way\u2014by preparing lunch.

Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, visited the village to witness this heartwarming scene. Amidst the rubble and ongoing reconstruction, the aroma of freshly cooked meals wafted through the air. Firefighters, clad in their uniforms, stood over steaming pots, stirring and serving dishes to grateful residents.

\"We wanted to do something more for the community,\" said one firefighter. \"Providing a hot meal is a small gesture, but it brings us closer together and lifts everyone's spirits.\"

Villagers gathered under makeshift shelters, sharing food and stories. For many, this communal meal was a moment of solace and unity after days of uncertainty.

\"Their support means everything to us,\" said a resident of Cuo'ang Village. \"The firefighters are not just protecting us\u2014they are part of our family now.\"

The efforts of the firefighters highlight the strong sense of solidarity in Xizang during this challenging time. As rebuilding continues, acts of kindness like these remind everyone of the resilience and compassion inherent in the community.
