Firefighters Prepare Lunch for Quake-Affected Villagers in Xizang

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. Resettlement and reconstruction efforts are still underway, with communities rallying together to rebuild their lives.

In Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town, the spirit of solidarity shines brightly. The firefighters of the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on roles beyond their call of duty. They are not only safeguarding the area but also nurturing the community by preparing lunch for the affected villagers.

Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, visited the village to witness this heartwarming initiative. The firefighters, donned in their gear, swapped hoses for cooking utensils as they chopped vegetables, stirred steaming pots, and served meals with smiles. The aroma of home-cooked food brought a sense of comfort to the villagers, many of whom have been displaced from their homes.

\"We want to do everything we can to help,\" one firefighter shared. \"Providing a hot meal is a small gesture, but it brings everyone together and lifts spirits during this difficult time.\"

The villagers expressed deep gratitude for the support. \"Their kindness gives us hope,\" a local resident said. \"It's reassuring to know we are not alone.\"

This act of kindness is a testament to the resilience and unity of the community and those aiding in the recovery efforts. As reconstruction continues, such gestures play a crucial role in healing and restoring normalcy.
