Firefighters Prepare Lunch for Quake-Affected Villagers in Xizang

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. The tremor left many villagers displaced and in need of basic necessities. Amidst ongoing resettlement and reconstruction efforts, a glimmer of warmth and solidarity shines through.

At Cuo'ang Village in Quluo Town, the firefighters of the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on a new role. Trading their firefighting gear for aprons and ladles, they are preparing hearty meals for the quake-affected residents. The aroma of freshly cooked food wafts through the chilly air, bringing comfort to those who have faced loss and uncertainty.

\"We want to do more than just provide emergency assistance,\" says one firefighter. \"Cooking for the villagers allows us to connect with them and offer support beyond our usual duties.\"

Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, was on the frontline to witness this heartwarming scene. She observed firefighters chopping vegetables, stirring pots, and serving meals with smiles. Villagers gathered around, sharing stories and expressing gratitude for the support they have received.

\"Their help means a lot to us,\" says a local resident. \"Not only are they helping rebuild our homes, but they also care about our well-being.\"

The firefighters' efforts highlight the spirit of community and resilience that prevails even in challenging times. As reconstruction continues, acts of kindness like these bring hope and strength to the affected communities.
