Firefighters Prepare Lunch for Earthquake-Affected Villagers in Xizang

Over a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake shook Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. As resettlement and reconstruction efforts continue, a sense of community and resilience prevails among the affected residents.

In the small village of Cuo'ang, located in Quluo Town, the firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on a unique role beyond their usual duties. Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, spent time with these dedicated firefighters as they rolled up their sleeves to prepare lunch for the villagers.

\"We want to do more than just provide safety; we want to bring comfort and warmth to the people here,\" one firefighter shared while stirring a large pot over an open flame. The aroma of freshly cooked food mingled with the crisp mountain air, drawing smiles from villagers and children alike.

The communal meal not only offered nourishment but also a moment of normalcy and togetherness amidst the ongoing recovery efforts. Villagers gathered to share stories, express gratitude, and find solace in the support provided by the firefighters.

\"Having them here means a lot to us,\" said an elderly resident. \"Their kindness gives us strength to rebuild and look forward to better days.\"

The firefighters' initiative exemplifies the solidarity and compassion that emerge in times of adversity. As reconstruction progresses, such acts of generosity continue to foster hope and unity within the community.
