Firefighters in Xizang Cook Lunch for Earthquake-Affected Villagers in Dingri County

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. As resettlement and reconstruction efforts continue, the community in Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town, finds support in unexpected ways.

The firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have extended their duties beyond emergency response. At Cuo'ang Village, they have taken on the role of cooks, preparing lunch for villagers affected by the quake. The sight of firefighters in aprons, stirring pots over open flames, brings a sense of warmth and normalcy to a community rebuilding from the rubble.

The gesture has been a comforting presence for many residents. Sharing meals not only nourishes the body but also fosters a sense of unity. The firefighters' dedication exemplifies the spirit of solidarity as the region works towards recovery.

Resettlement efforts are still underway, and the road to rebuilding is long. However, acts of kindness like these highlight the resilience of the people in Xizang. With continued support and collaboration, the community remains hopeful for a brighter future ahead.
