Firefighters Cook Lunch for Quake-Stricken Villagers in Xizang

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. The quake left many villagers displaced and in need of assistance as resettlement and reconstruction efforts continue.

Amidst the ongoing relief operations, firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on roles beyond their usual duties. At Cuo'ang Village in Quluo Town, these dedicated firefighters are not only providing emergency services but are also preparing meals for villagers affected by the earthquake.

Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, joined the frontline to witness the firefighters' efforts firsthand. In a humble makeshift kitchen, the aroma of freshly cooked food fills the air as the firefighters chop vegetables, stir pots, and serve warm meals to grateful residents. This gesture brings a sense of normalcy and comfort to those who have lost so much.

\"We want to do everything we can to support the villagers during this difficult time,\" said one of the firefighters. \"Cooking meals is just a small way we can help them feel cared for and rebuild their strength.\"

The collaborative spirit and community support demonstrated by the firefighters exemplify the resilience of the people in Xizang. As reconstruction progresses, such acts of kindness play a vital role in healing and rebuilding the community.

As the region continues to recover from the quake, the combined efforts of rescue teams and local authorities offer hope for a swift return to normalcy. The dedication shown by the firefighters in Cuo'ang Village serves as an inspiring example of compassion in the face of adversity.
