Firefighters Cook Lunch for Quake-Affected Villagers in Xizang’s Dingri County

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. As resettlement and reconstruction efforts continue, a heartwarming scene unfolds in the village of Cuo'ang, Quluo Town.

Firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on a new role: chefs for the day. Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, visited the frontline where these dedicated firefighters are preparing lunch for the villagers affected by the quake.

\"We wanted to provide not just physical assistance but also emotional support,\" said one of the firefighters. \"Cooking a meal is a simple way to bring comfort and a sense of normalcy during these challenging times.\"

The aroma of freshly cooked food fills the air as villagers gather, their faces lighting up with smiles. For many, this gesture represents solidarity and hope amid the aftermath of the disaster.

\"It's been tough, but seeing everyone come together like this gives us strength,\" shared a resident of Cuo'ang Village. \"We are grateful for the support from the firefighters and all who have helped.\"

The firefighters continue to assist in various capacities, from distributing supplies to helping with rebuilding efforts. Their commitment reflects the broader community spirit that has emerged in response to the earthquake.

As rescue and recovery operations proceed, stories like these highlight the resilience of the people in Xizang and the compassionate efforts of those aiding them.
