Firefighters Cook Lunch for Quake-Affected Villagers in Xizang’s Dingri County

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake shook Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. Amid ongoing resettlement and reconstruction efforts, a heartwarming scene unfolds in Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town.

Firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have traded their helmets for aprons, stepping into makeshift kitchens to prepare lunch for the quake-affected villagers. The scent of freshly cooked meals fills the air, offering comfort to a community striving to rebuild.

Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, witnessed firsthand the camaraderie and resilience as the firefighters chopped vegetables, stirred steaming pots, and shared smiles with residents. \"We're here to protect and serve,\" one firefighter said. \"Today, that means making sure everyone has a hot meal.\"

The villagers, many of whom lost their homes, expressed gratitude for the support. \"Their kindness gives us strength,\" a local resident shared. \"We feel we are not alone in this journey to recovery.\"

The collaborative efforts between the firefighters and the community reflect a spirit of unity and hope in the face of adversity. As reconstruction continues, acts of compassion like these pave the way toward healing and rebuilding stronger bonds.
