Firefighters Bring Warmth to Quake-Affected Villagers in Xizang

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. The tremor left many villagers in Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town, facing the daunting task of rebuilding their lives.

Amidst the ongoing resettlement and reconstruction efforts, a group of dedicated firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have been lending a helping hand. Beyond their primary duties, these firefighters have taken on roles as cooks, laborers, and friends to the affected residents.

Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, visited Cuo'ang Village to witness the heartwarming scene. As the midday sun reached its peak, the aroma of a hearty meal began to fill the air. The firefighters were busy preparing lunch for the villagers, chopping vegetables, stirring pots, and sharing smiles.

\"We want to do more than just fight fires,\" said Wang Lei, a team leader in the unit. \"By cooking meals and spending time with the villagers, we hope to bring them comfort and support during this difficult time.\"

Villagers gathered around, expressing gratitude not only for the delicious food but also for the sense of normalcy and community the firefighters helped restore. \"Their kindness gives us strength,\" said Tashi, a local resident. \"We feel we are not alone in this struggle.\"

The collaborative efforts between the firefighters and the villagers highlight the resilience and unity of the people in Xizang. As reconstruction progresses, acts of compassion like these continue to inspire hope for a better tomorrow.
