Firefighters Cook Lunch for Quake-Affected Villagers in Xizang

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. Amid ongoing resettlement and reconstruction efforts, a heartwarming scene unfolds in Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town.

The dedicated firefighters of the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on a new role: chefs for the day. As the village grapples with the aftermath of the quake, these firefighters are not only ensuring safety but also nurturing the community by preparing lunch for the affected residents.

Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, joined the frontline in Cuo'ang Village to witness this act of kindness. Amid the ruins and rebuilding efforts, the aroma of a hot meal brings comfort to villagers who have endured immense hardship.

\"We want to do more than just our duty,\" said one firefighter. \"By cooking for the villagers, we hope to bring a sense of normalcy and show that we're all in this together.\"

The villagers expressed deep gratitude for the support. \"Their help means so much to us,\" said a resident. \"In these difficult times, it's heartening to see such care and compassion.\"

As reconstruction continues, stories like these highlight the resilience and unity of the community in Xizang. The collaboration between firefighters and villagers embodies the spirit of hope and recovery in the face of adversity.
