It has been over a week since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. As resettlement and reconstruction efforts continue, stories of community resilience and compassion have emerged.
At Cuo'ang Village in Quluo Town, the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit is going beyond their call of duty. Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, visited the village and witnessed firefighters preparing lunch for the quake-affected villagers.
The scent of warm meals wafted through the chilly air as firefighters chopped vegetables, stirred pots, and served dishes to grateful residents. "We are here not just to provide emergency services but to support the community in any way we can," said one of the firefighters.
Villagers expressed their gratitude for the firefighters' efforts. "They have been a tremendous help during this difficult time. Their kindness brings hope to our village," shared a local resident.
The collaborative spirit between the firefighters and villagers exemplifies the strength and unity of the community as they work together towards recovery.
