Firefighters Cook Lunch for Earthquake-Affected Villagers in Xizang

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. The tremor left a trail of destruction, affecting numerous villages and displacing residents. As resettlement and reconstruction efforts continue, signs of hope and solidarity emerge amid the ruins.

In Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town, the firefighters of the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on roles beyond their usual duties. Today, they are not just safeguarding the villagers from potential hazards but also bringing warmth to the community by preparing lunch for the earthquake-affected residents.

\"Seeing the smiles on the villagers' faces makes all our efforts worthwhile,\" says one of the firefighters as he stirs a large pot over an open flame. The aroma of freshly cooked food fills the air, momentarily lifting the spirits of those who have endured so much in recent days.

Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, is on the frontline, witnessing firsthand the camaraderie and resilience of the community. The firefighters work tirelessly, not only providing meals but also offering support and comfort to the villagers as they navigate the challenges of rebuilding their lives.

The collaborative effort between the firefighters and the local residents exemplifies the strength and unity of the people in the face of adversity. As reconstruction progresses, such acts of kindness and solidarity pave the way for a hopeful future in Dingri County.
