More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. As resettlement and reconstruction efforts continue, acts of kindness emerge amidst the adversity.
At Cuo’ang Village, Quluo Town, Dingri County, firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on a new role. Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, spent time on the frontline witnessing how these brave individuals are not only providing safety but also nourishing the community by preparing lunch for the villagers.
In the makeshift kitchen, the aroma of home-cooked meals fills the air as firefighters chop vegetables, stir pots, and serve dishes with warm smiles. For villagers who have lost much, these simple gestures offer comfort and a sense of normalcy.
The collaborative efforts between the local authorities, firefighters, and villagers highlight the resilience and unity of the community. While reconstruction is a formidable task, such moments foster hope and strengthen bonds among the people of Cuo’ang Village.
As rebuilding progresses, the dedication of the firefighters and volunteers continues to shine through, embodying the spirit of solidarity in the face of natural disasters.
