Firefighters Cook for Quake-Affected Villagers in Xizang’s Dingri County

In the remote village of Cuo'ang in Quluo Town, Dingri County, the aroma of freshly cooked food fills the air. More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7, leaving many villagers displaced and in need of assistance.

Amidst the ongoing resettlement and reconstruction efforts, members of the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on a unique role. Not only are they aiding in disaster relief, but they are also preparing hot meals for the quake-affected residents.

Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, visited the village to witness the firefighters' efforts firsthand. Dressed in their orange uniforms, the firefighters deftly chop vegetables, stir steaming pots, and serve dishes to grateful villagers. Their presence brings both sustenance and a sense of normalcy to a community grappling with the aftermath of the earthquake.

\"We want to do everything we can to help the people here,\" says Li Wei, one of the firefighters. \"Providing meals is just one way we can support them during this difficult time.\"

The villagers, many of whom have lost their homes, express deep appreciation for the firefighters' support. \"They have been by our side since the earthquake happened,\" says Tashi, a resident of Cuo'ang Village. \"Their kindness gives us hope.\"

The collaborative efforts between the firefighters and the villagers exemplify the resilience and solidarity of the community. As reconstruction continues, acts of compassion like these play a crucial role in healing and rebuilding lives.

The situation in Dingri County remains challenging, but with the dedication of first responders and the strength of local residents, there is a shared optimism for the future.
