Firefighters Cook for Quake-Affected Villagers in Xizang

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. Amidst ongoing resettlement and reconstruction efforts, a heartwarming scene unfolds in Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town.

The firefighters of the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on an unexpected role beyond their call of duty. Trading their firefighting gear for aprons and cooking utensils, they are preparing lunch for the villagers affected by the quake.

Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, visited the frontline to witness this act of solidarity. She found the firefighters bustling around makeshift kitchens, stirring pots over open flames, and serving steaming dishes to grateful residents.

\"We want to provide not just physical assistance but also emotional support,\" said one firefighter. \"Sharing a meal brings us closer and reminds everyone that we're in this together.\"

The villagers, many of whom have lost homes and possessions, expressed deep gratitude. \"Their kindness warms our hearts,\" said an elderly resident. \"In these difficult times, it's comforting to know we're not alone.\"

The shared meals have become a symbol of unity and resilience in Cuo'ang Village. As reconstruction continues, the bonds between the firefighters and villagers strengthen, showcasing the enduring spirit of the community in the face of adversity.

The firefighters' efforts extend beyond meal preparation—they also assist in rebuilding shelters and providing essential supplies. Their dedication exemplifies the compassion and solidarity that emerge during challenging times.

As Cuo'ang Village moves forward on the road to recovery, acts like these highlight the power of coming together and supporting one another, reinforcing hope for a brighter future.
