More than a week after a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7, resettlement and reconstruction efforts are in full swing. Amidst the challenges, a heartwarming scene unfolds in Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town, where firefighters go beyond their call of duty.
Zhao Chenchen, our frontline reporter, visits the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit stationed in the village. The team is not only engaged in rescue and rebuilding but has taken on the role of community chefs, preparing lunch for the affected villagers.
The aroma of freshly cooked food wafts through the chilly air as firefighters chop vegetables, stir pots, and serve meals with smiles. For many residents, this gesture provides much-needed comfort and a sense of normalcy after the unsettling quake.
\"It's not just about putting out fires,\" says one of the firefighters. \"We're here to support the community in any way we can.\" The villagers express gratitude, with one elder stating, \"Their kindness warms our hearts during these tough times.\"
The collaborative effort between the firefighters and villagers exemplifies the resilience and unity of the community. As reconstruction continues, such acts of solidarity offer hope and a reminder that they are not alone in their journey to rebuild.
