It has been over a week since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake shook Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. The quake left many villages damaged, and resettlement and reconstruction efforts are still underway.
At Cuo'ang Village in Quluo Town, Dingri County, firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have stepped in to provide much-needed support to the affected residents. Beyond their duties of ensuring safety and aiding in reconstruction, these firefighters are bringing a sense of normalcy back to the community by preparing lunch for the villagers.
\"Our main goal is to make sure everyone is safe and has what they need,\" said one of the firefighters. \"Cooking meals is a small way we can help bring comfort during this difficult time.\"
The aroma of home-cooked food fills the air as villagers gather around, sharing stories and finding solace in each other's company. For many, this gesture of kindness from the firefighters is a beacon of hope amid the hardships caused by the earthquake.
Resident Tashi expressed his gratitude, saying, \"The firefighters have been a tremendous help. Their support means so much to us.\"
As the community comes together, the collaborative efforts between the villagers and the firefighters highlight the resilience and solidarity of the people of Xizang. While challenges remain, the spirit of cooperation and compassion continues to drive the recovery forward.
