Over a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. As resettlement and reconstruction efforts continue, stories of compassion and solidarity are emerging from the affected areas.
In the small village of Cuo'ang, nestled in Quluo Town, the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit is going beyond their call of duty. The firefighters are not only assisting with recovery efforts but are also preparing lunch for villagers who have been displaced by the quake.
\"We want to do everything we can to support the local community,\" said a firefighter from the unit. \"Cooking meals is just one way we can help bring a sense of normalcy back to their lives.\"
Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, visited Cuo'ang Village to witness firsthand the camaraderie between the firefighters and the villagers. Amidst the challenges, the aroma of freshly cooked food fills the air, and smiles return to faces as everyone gathers to share a meal.
The collective efforts of the firefighters and villagers exemplify the resilience and unity that arises in the wake of natural disasters. As reconstruction progresses, the spirit of cooperation continues to drive the community forward.
