Resettlement Underway in Xizang After Earthquake: Residents Move into Prefabricated Homes

After a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in Xizang, efforts are underway to resettle affected families. In Remuqing Village, Qulho Township, thirty-eight households have moved from temporary tents into prefabricated houses. These new accommodations will serve as temporary homes for the residents for the next six months to a year.

The earthquake, which caused significant damage to infrastructure and homes, left many families displaced. The swift construction of prefabricated houses has provided much-needed shelter and a sense of stability for the villagers.

“It feels like a new beginning,” said a resident of Remuqing Village. “After living in tents, moving into these houses brings us comfort and hope.”

Local authorities are working diligently to ensure that all affected residents receive adequate housing and support. The prefabricated homes are equipped with essential amenities, providing a safer and warmer environment as winter approaches.

CGTN reporters visited the site to document the living conditions and share the stories of the villagers adapting to their new circumstances.
