CGTN to Host Global New Year’s Eve Broadcast Celebrations

CGTN, the China Global Television Network, is set to host a 4.5-hour live broadcast on New Year’s Eve, featuring a global relay connecting various countries and regions as they welcome 2025. The event aims to showcase diverse cultural celebrations and bring together viewers from around the world.

In Ortaköy Square, Turkey, viewers can enjoy the scenic beauty of the Bosphorus Strait and explore Turkish traditions for ringing in the New Year. Reports from the Gaza Strip will share the aspirations of residents in the conflict zone, expressing hopes for peace and a ceasefire in the coming year.

In Beijing, traditional lion dance performances will take place at the 798 Art Zone, highlighting China’s rich cultural heritage. In Arxan, Inner Mongolia, the Wulanmuqi Art Troupe will perform, featuring interactions with fairy-tale characters and culminating in a fireworks display that lights up the winter sky.

The CGTN Hanfu Studio plans a Hanfu-themed event in Xi’an, collaborating with young Hanfu enthusiasts and musicians to celebrate traditional Chinese attire and music. Additionally, young Chinese from different parts of the world will contribute short videos, sharing their New Year greetings and personal reflections.

Firework displays are scheduled in Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, Inner Mongolia, Chongqing, and other locations, symbolizing hope and unity as the New Year begins.

The live broadcast will be hosted by Merna Al Nasser and Nadim Diab, providing viewers with an immersive experience of global New Year festivities as the world bids farewell to 2024 and welcomes 2025.
