At the China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Panda in Ya’an, southwest China’s Sichuan Province, giant pandas are being treated to a special birthday celebration during their annual breeding season, which runs from July to September. Caregivers have organized a series of enrichment activities to honor these beloved animals and enhance their quality of life in captivity.
Enrichment activities involve measures that simulate the pandas’ natural habitat, provide variety in their diet, and offer stimulating treats such as bamboo shoots, cakes, and ice treats. These initiatives aim to meet the physiological and psychological needs of the pandas, significantly improving their living conditions.
This year, in conjunction with the Mid-Autumn Festival, caregivers have prepared special gifts for the pandas at the Ya’an base. Visitors are invited to explore the base and witness firsthand the exciting changes brought about by these enrichment activities, celebrating the joyful growth of China’s national treasure—the giant panda.
