Global Youth Propel Space Science at ISSSP2024 Finals in Hong Kong

Young innovators from around the world converged in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for the finals of the 2024 International Space Science and Scientific Payload Competition (ISSSP2024). The event showcased the creativity and ingenuity of nearly 200 teams from over 50 countries and regions, with total participants exceeding 1,000.

After intense preliminary rounds, 30 teams from 10 countries and regions advanced to the finals held in Hong Kong SAR. These talented youth presented their brilliant ideas and groundbreaking concepts in space science and payload design, aiming to contribute to the advancement of space exploration.

Jointly organized by the Chinese Society of Astronautics, Beijing Institute of Technology, the International Academy of Astronautics, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, ISSSP2024 serves as a global platform for young minds to collaborate and share their visions for the future of space science.

To further enrich the event, a special roundtable talk featured four distinguished guests: Niu Aimin, Vice President for International Cooperation at USPACE Technology Group Limited; Bernard Foing, Executive Director of the International Lunar Exploration Working Group; Xu Yansong, Director General of the Education and Training Department at the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization; and Olivier Contant, Executive Director and Academician at the International Academy of Astronautics. The discussion delved into the importance of international collaboration in space exploration and the role of young innovators in shaping the future of the industry.

ISSSP2024 not only provided an opportunity for participants to showcase their talents but also fostered cross-cultural exchanges and collaborations, highlighting the significance of global cooperation in advancing space science.
