International Youth Poetry Festival Debuts in China, Celebrating Global Voices

The first International Youth Poetry Festival has commenced in east China’s Hangzhou City and the national capital Beijing, bringing together young poets from around the world to celebrate the power of poetry and cultural exchange. The festival runs from July 18 to 24.

The academic dialogue features themes such as “Experience of life, colors of love and hope,” and “Eternal is new, writing a poem is to innovate.” Poets from Brazil, Russia, India, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Iran are participating, sharing their unique perspectives and exploring the role of poetry in contemporary society.

Hosted by the China Writers Association and the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Zhenjiang Provincial Committee, the festival marks the first special session for BRICS countries. It aims to foster mutual understanding and strengthen cultural ties among nations through the universal language of poetry.

Participants will engage in a series of events, including readings, workshops, and exchanges, providing a platform for young voices to resonate on an international stage. The festival not only highlights the diversity of global poetic expression but also emphasizes the shared human experiences that unite us all.
