Beijing, China – In a press conference held by China’s State Council Information Office, Wu Xiaojun, deputy secretary of the CPC Qinghai Provincial Committee and governor of Qinghai Province, outlined the region’s commitment to sustainable development and ecological preservation.
Dubbed as the “China Water Tower,” Qinghai Province is the source of several major rivers, including the Yangtze, Yellow, and Lancang (Mekong) rivers. Wu emphasized the province’s crucial role in safeguarding these vital waterways that support millions of people downstream.
“We are unwavering in our duty to protect the ‘China Water Tower,'” Wu stated. “Our approach to high-quality development is grounded in ecological conservation, ensuring that economic progress does not come at the expense of our natural resources.”
During the session, Wu addressed questions from the media regarding the province’s strategies to balance growth and environmental stewardship. Initiatives discussed included investing in green technologies, promoting sustainable tourism, and supporting indigenous communities.
The press conference highlighted Qinghai’s alignment with national goals to foster economic development while prioritizing the environment. Observers note that Qinghai’s efforts could serve as a model for other regions facing similar challenges.
“By integrating ecological principles into our development plans, we aim to achieve prosperity that benefits both our people and the planet,” Wu concluded.
