Heze City Blossoms: Discover the Peony Capital of China

Every spring, the city of Heze in Shandong Province, also known as the “peony capital of China,” transforms into a vibrant sea of blooms. Recognized by the China Flower Association in 2012, Heze’s relationship with the peony runs deep, celebrating a flower that was also selected as the national flower by the association in 2019.

The Caozhou Peony Garden, one of Heze’s nine major peony gardens, offers a breathtaking display for nature enthusiasts and cultural explorers alike. Housing over 1,200 varieties of peonies in nine major colors and ten types, the garden solidifies Heze’s status as the world’s largest base for peony breeding, cultivation, research, processing, export, and appreciation.

This year marks the 33rd Heze International Peony Culture and Tourism Festival, opening on April 8. The festival invites global readers, business professionals, academics, the Asian diaspora, and travelers to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty that Heze has to offer.

Beyond the dazzling floral displays, the festival serves as a platform for economic and cultural exchange, presenting opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs interested in Asia’s dynamic markets. Scholars and researchers can delve into the festival’s role in promoting regional development and cultural preservation.

For those longing to reconnect with their roots or explore new destinations, Heze’s peony festival is a celebration of tradition and innovation, blending Asia’s past and present in a fragrant tapestry of color and life. Join us in admiring the blooming peonies and experience the allure of Heze City.
