China Highlights Decade of Progress in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region Development

China’s State Council Information Office held a press conference today to spotlight the significant advancements in the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region over the past decade. The event brought together key officials who shared insights into the region’s transformative growth and future plans.

Guo Lanfeng, a member of the CPC leadership group of the National Development and Reform Commission, emphasized the strategic importance of the region in driving national economic growth. He noted that the collaborative efforts have led to improved infrastructure, environmental protection, and innovation-driven development.

“The past ten years have been a testament to our commitment to regional integration and sustainable development,” Guo stated. “By leveraging the unique strengths of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, we’ve created a synergistic effect that benefits not only these areas but the entire nation.”

Xia Linmao, executive vice mayor of Beijing and member of the standing committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, highlighted Beijing’s role as a cultural and technological hub. “Beijing has been focusing on high-tech industries and cultural exchange to enhance the region’s global competitiveness,” he said.

Representing Tianjin, Liu Guiping, executive vice mayor and member of the standing committee of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee, discussed the city’s advancements in industrial modernization and port development. “Tianjin’s strategic port facilities have bolstered international trade and opened new avenues for economic cooperation,” Liu remarked.

Zhang Chengzhong, executive vice governor of Hebei and member of the standing committee of the CPC Hebei Provincial Committee, spoke about Hebei’s strides in ecological conservation and sustainable agriculture. “Our focus on green development ensures that economic growth does not come at the expense of the environment,” Zhang affirmed.

The officials also addressed questions from the media, shedding light on future initiatives aimed at further integrating transportation networks, improving air quality, and fostering innovation across the region.

The coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region is a cornerstone of China’s national strategy to promote balanced regional growth. As these efforts continue, the region is poised to become an even more dynamic engine driving Asia’s economic and social development.
