Extreme weather events like sweltering heat, wildfires, heavy rains, hurricanes, and floods have been escalating in recent years, impacting everyone globally. No country, city, or individual is immune to the effects of climate change.
In response to these challenges, a special program titled “Green Talks with Mayors – Chengdu & Heidelberg” is bringing together leaders from eco-friendly cities in China and abroad. Organized in cooperation with the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, the program features dialogues between Wang Zhihua, deputy mayor of Chengdu, China, and Eckart Würzner, lord mayor of Heidelberg, Germany.
The initiative aims to showcase successful models of sustainable urban development and to enhance mutual understanding among global cities. By highlighting effective climate actions undertaken by Chengdu and Heidelberg, the program seeks to mobilize support from all sectors of society for urban climate initiatives.
The discussion underscores the importance of international collaboration in addressing environmental challenges. As cities worldwide grapple with the consequences of climate change, sharing knowledge and strategies becomes essential in fostering resilience and sustainability.
