In a solemn ceremony held at the Cemetery of Revolutionary Martyrs in Shenyang, northeast China’s Liaoning Province, the remains of 25 Chinese People’s Volunteers (CPV) soldiers who served in the Korean War were laid to rest. The ceremony honored the brave soldiers who fought in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-1953).
The event was attended by government officials, military personnel, veterans, and members of the public, all paying their respects to the fallen heroes. The ceremony included military honors, wreath-laying, and moments of silence to commemorate the sacrifices made by the soldiers in defending their nation and supporting neighboring Korea during the conflict.
The repatriation of the soldiers’ remains was the result of ongoing efforts between China and relevant parties to locate, identify, and bring home those who fell in the war. Since 2014, China has been working diligently to recover the remains of CPV soldiers, ensuring they receive proper burials in their homeland.
“Today, we honor the courage and dedication of these 25 soldiers who gave their lives for peace and stability in the region,” said a spokesperson at the ceremony. “Their legacy will continue to inspire future generations.”
The War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, known internationally as the Korean War, was a significant conflict in which China played a pivotal role. The CPV soldiers fought alongside Korean forces, and their contributions have been a source of national pride and historical importance.
The burial ceremony not only serves as a tribute to the individuals who sacrificed their lives but also reinforces the enduring commitment to remembering and honoring those who have served in the defense of the nation.
