Remains of 25 Chinese People’s Volunteers from Korean War Returned Home

The remains of 25 Chinese People’s Volunteers (CPV) martyrs who fought in the Korean War were solemnly returned to China from the Republic of Korea (ROK) on Friday. The handover ceremony took place in Incheon, where representatives from both nations paid their respects to the fallen soldiers.

A Chinese Air Force plane transported the remains and personal belongings of the martyrs back to China. Upon arrival at Shenyang Taoxian International Airport in northeast China’s Liaoning Province, a solemn welcome-home ceremony was held to honor their sacrifice. Military personnel, officials, and relatives of the martyrs attended the ceremony, laying wreaths and offering silent tributes.

This marks the tenth annual repatriation of CPV soldiers’ remains since 2014, bringing the total number of returned soldiers to 913. The continued efforts reflect the commitment of both nations to resolve historical issues and promote peace and reconciliation on the Korean Peninsula.

The CPV fought alongside the Korean People’s Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953, playing a significant role in the conflict. The return of these soldiers is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made in pursuit of peace and the enduring ties between China and the Korean Peninsula.
