Global Youth Seize Belt and Road Opportunities: Insights from ‘Youth Talks’

As the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) marks its 10th anniversary, a new generation of global youth is exploring how to seize the opportunities it presents for cooperation and exchange. In a recent episode of Youth Talks by CGTN, host Niu Honglin led a dynamic discussion with CGTN commentator Huang Jiyuan, Pakistani researcher Zoon Ahmed Khan, and European policy officer Giorgia Maset.

The panel delved into how Generation Z can integrate themselves into the BRI’s grand vision, contributing fresh perspectives and energy to this ambitious global project. They discussed the importance of cross-cultural collaboration, innovation, and the role of young people in shaping the future of international relations and economic development.

“The BRI offers unprecedented opportunities for young people worldwide,” said Huang Jiyuan. “It’s a platform where we can learn from each other, share ideas, and work together towards common goals.”

Zoon Ahmed Khan highlighted the positive impact of the BRI in fostering connectivity and understanding among diverse cultures. “For youth in countries along the Belt and Road, this initiative opens doors to new possibilities in education, entrepreneurship, and cultural exchange,” she noted.

European policy officer Giorgia Maset emphasized the need for youth engagement in policy-making processes related to the BRI. “Young voices are crucial in shaping policies that affect our future. We must ensure they are heard and considered,” she said.

The discussion illuminated how Generation Z can play a pivotal role in advancing the BRI’s objectives, using technology and social media to bridge gaps and promote mutual understanding. The panelists encouraged young people to actively participate in BRI projects, seek out international collaborations, and contribute to the evolving Silk Road blueprint for the new era.

As the BRI continues to evolve, the involvement of global youth is essential in driving forward this initiative’s success. By embracing opportunities for cooperation and exchange, young people can help build a more connected and prosperous world.
