In a move underscoring the deepening economic ties between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the State Council Information Office of China held a press conference today in Beijing to discuss upcoming events aimed at bolstering regional cooperation.
Li Fei, Vice Minister of Commerce; Sui Guohua, Vice Governor of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; and Zhang Shaogang, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, addressed the media on plans for the 20th China-ASEAN Expo and the 20th China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit.
Enhancing Regional Collaboration
Li Fei highlighted the significance of the longstanding partnership between China and ASEAN nations, emphasizing that this year’s events mark two decades of fruitful collaboration. “Over the past 20 years, China and ASEAN have continued to deepen mutual trust and expand cooperation, bringing tangible benefits to our peoples,” Li stated.
He outlined key areas where both sides aim to strengthen cooperation, including digital economy, green development, and supply chain resilience. “We are committed to building a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future,” Li added.
Spotlight on Guangxi
Sui Guohua shared insights on the role of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as a strategic gateway between China and ASEAN countries. “Guangxi has been at the forefront of facilitating trade and cultural exchanges,” Sui remarked. He announced several initiatives that will be showcased at the Expo, focusing on innovation, sustainable development, and tourism.
Business Opportunities Abound
Zhang Shaogang discussed the pivotal role of the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit in promoting trade and investment. “This summit serves as a crucial platform for businesses from China and ASEAN to explore opportunities and forge partnerships,” he said.
He encouraged enterprises from both regions to leverage the summit to enhance collaboration in emerging industries and to navigate the challenges posed by the global economic landscape.
Looking Ahead
The 20th China-ASEAN Expo and the 20th China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit are scheduled to take place in Nanning, Guangxi, highlighting the theme of “Work Together for a Harmonious Home and a Shared Future.”
The events are expected to attract thousands of participants, including government officials, business leaders, and investors, aiming to foster deeper economic integration and cultural understanding between China and ASEAN nations.
