BRICS Youth Voice: Young Leaders Discuss Future Cooperation Post-15th Summit

The BRICS mechanism—comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—has demonstrated remarkable resilience and vitality since its inception. As the 15th BRICS Summit concluded in South Africa, a new wave of enthusiasm is emerging among the younger generations of these nations.

To explore how young people perceive cooperation and cultural exchanges between BRICS countries, CGTN hosted a roundtable discussion titled “BRICS Youth Talk.” The panel featured Jeremy Stevens, an economist from the Standard Bank Group in South Africa; Angelina Ilina, a Russian student studying in the Chinese mainland; and Yin Yue, a former China Media Group (CMG) Brazil correspondent.

Drawing from their unique experiences, the panelists shared insights into the evolving dynamics of BRICS cooperation. Jeremy Stevens highlighted the economic opportunities that arise from strengthened ties, emphasizing the potential for collaborative growth. Angelina Ilina shared her experiences studying abroad, observing that educational programs and student exchanges deepen mutual understanding. Yin Yue discussed the role of media and communication in bridging gaps between BRICS countries, highlighting how storytelling and shared narratives can enhance solidarity.

The discussion emphasized that the youth are not only beneficiaries of BRICS cooperation but also active contributors shaping its trajectory. With globalization and technology connecting societies more than ever, young people are leveraging these platforms to initiate projects, start dialogues, and build networks that transcend borders.

As BRICS nations continue to develop their collaborative agenda, incorporating the voices and perspectives of the younger generation remains crucial. The enthusiasm and innovative ideas brought forward by young leaders and professionals signal a promising future for deeper cooperation and mutual growth.

The “BRICS Youth Talk” underscores the importance of youth engagement in international cooperation. As the world faces complex challenges, the fresh insights and proactive approaches of younger generations may hold the key to unlocking new avenues of partnership among BRICS nations.
