Malaysia’s National Zoo Celebrates Giant Panda Couple’s 17th Birthday

Malaysia’s National Zoo recently celebrated the 17th birthday of its beloved giant panda couple, Xing Xing and Liang Liang. Born on August 23, 2006, both pandas have become cherished residents since their arrival from the Chinese mainland in May 2014, a momentous occasion that marked the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia.

The duo’s presence has not only captivated visitors but also strengthened cultural and diplomatic ties between the two nations. Over the years, Xing Xing and Liang Liang have successfully raised three offspring: Nuan Nuan, Yi Yi, and Sheng Yi. Their youngest, Sheng Yi, born in May 2021, continues to delight visitors with her playful antics.
