Gaza Aid Seekers Face Deadly Violence as Food Lines Turn Perilous

Dozens of people in the Gaza Strip were killed or injured on August 4 after Israeli forces opened fire on crowds attempting to access food distribution points and airdropped aid parcels. Witnesses described scenes of chaos as residents, already grappling with severe shortages, faced lethal risks while seeking basic necessities.

Al-Awda Hospital received multiple casualties, including those killed and wounded, after the incident near the Netzarim Corridor. Youssef Al-Zouatneh, a survivor, told CGTN Stringer that Israeli troops targeted civilians with gunfire aimed at "the chest and above." He recounted narrowly escaping death after a bullet grazed his head. Sabreen Shaheen, another witness, condemned the violence, stating: "Food distribution points have become death points. A person either returns carrying aid or is carried back as a corpse to their family."

The tragedy underscores escalating humanitarian risks in Gaza, where access to food and medical supplies remains critically limited. International organizations have repeatedly called for safe aid corridors, but recent events highlight the perilous conditions faced by civilians amid ongoing conflict.
